What's at Stake

A home is only as comfortable as the
air you can't see.

Comfort isn't one number on a thermostat. It's three systems working in concert: energy in, air around you, and a machine that lasts long enough to pay for itself.

Lower energy bills
Fig 03
01

Lower energy bills

A correctly sized, properly sealed system stops paying twice — once at the meter, once for the comfort you never get. The right tune-up alone can cut consumption 15–30%.

30% Typical savings on a re-sized system

Air your family can trust

Ohio Valley humidity loves mold, dust mites, and VOCs. Filtration, ventilation, and humidity control aren't add-ons — they're how a house actually breathes.

A longer-lasting system

A longer-lasting system

Furnaces and AC units fail early because they were installed wrong, not because they were built wrong. The right hands add five to seven years to the life of every component.

IV

The Local Climate

Why Southwest Indiana
homeowners are upgrading now.

Three forces — weather, age, and price — are converging. The homeowners who plan ahead pay less and live more comfortably. Everyone else gets the emergency call.

Storm Pattern 01

Storms are harder on systems now.

Mid-summer derechos, ice storms in February, hail that pits a condenser coil — Ohio Valley weather has more extremes and shorter shoulder seasons than it did a decade ago.

+19% Severe storm days over 10 yrs
Aging Equipment 02

Most furnaces in southern Indiana are past their prime.

We routinely service equipment installed in the early 2000s. Past 15 years, efficiency drops, refrigerants get phased out, and parts get expensive — fast.

17.6yr Average age we see in service calls
Rising Costs 03

Material and energy costs aren't getting smaller.

Refrigerant phase-outs (R-410A → R-454B), copper, and natural gas have all climbed. Replacing on your terms — not your AC's — is the cheaper move every time.

+38% Refrigerant cost since 2021

A note from Pat

"When an old system fails in February, the call is never 'find me the best one.' It's 'find me anything by tonight.' Plan in October — and you can be picky."

— Pat Gick · Owner, Perfect Climate

V

Specified for the Valley

Built for the Ohio Valley's
worst weather.

A textbook system sized for the textbook climate fails fast here. Every Perfect Climate install is specified for this place — its humidity, its floodplain, its temperature swings.

Summer 01

Severe humidity & heat indices

From late June through September, a 92° afternoon feels like 105 with our dew points. Equipment that's even 10% oversized short-cycles and quits dehumidifying.

75°F

Avg. summer dew point

Spring/Fall 02

Torrential downpours & sump pump season

Three-inch rain events soak the floodplain. A failed sump or backflow valve doesn't just flood a basement — it ruins the HVAC sitting next to it.

44in

Avg. annual rainfall, Vanderburgh Co.

Winter 03

Ice storms & sub-zero cold snaps

Polar vortex events hit -10°F. Heat pumps without proper backup, single-stage furnaces, and frozen pipes are the predictable casualties. The right install survives all of them.

-12°F

Coldest recorded, last 10 yrs

"Every install we run is one we'd run in our own basement. No shortcuts. No second-tier parts. No two-truck visits because the first one came under-equipped."

A Project Plan

Plan your comfort project.

A repeatable, four-step path from "I think something's wrong" to "this house feels right again." The same plan we follow every day.

01 ≈ 2 min

Tell us the symptom

A noise. A bill that doubled. A room that won't cool. We start from what you actually notice — not a script.

02 ≈ 60 min

We measure the home

A real Manual J load calc, a duct static test, an indoor-air baseline. We size to your house, not a generic square-footage table.

03 Same day

Honest options, not pressure

Three tiers — good, better, best — with the math behind each one. No commission scripts. No same-day pressure.

04 1–3 days

Installed, tuned, and proven

Two-tech install, full commissioning, a written post-install report. If it doesn't perform, we come back until it does.

"We do the measuring. You stay in control."

Every project starts with a real diagnostic — not a pre-printed pitch. Schedule one and decide what to do after you see the numbers.

VII

The Math, Not Magic

How an honest HVAC estimate
is actually built.

Six factors decide your number. If a contractor can't break them down on paper, that's not a quote — that's a guess in a polo shirt.

01

Home size, layout & infiltration

A 1,400 sf ranch and a 1,400 sf two-story are not the same load. We calc Manual J — square footage alone is a guess.

28%

of price

02

Equipment tier & efficiency

13.4 SEER2 vs. 18 SEER2. 80% AFUE vs. 96%. Variable-speed vs. single-stage. The bracket you pick changes everything downstream.

22%

of price

03

Ductwork & airflow condition

If supply trunks are undersized or returns are starved, even premium equipment delivers like a builder-grade box. We test before we quote.

18%

of price

04

Refrigerant lines & electrical

Line set length, lift, disconnect amperage, panel capacity. The hidden costs that surprise homeowners on "too good" quotes.

14%

of price

05

Permits, code & inspection

Indiana code requires a permit and a third-party check. Quotes that skip it skip your warranty too.

10%

of price

06

Warranty tier & labor terms

Parts-only, parts + labor, or extended. A 10-year part costs nothing if a 1-year labor call costs $480.

8%

of price

Weights are typical for residential installs in 1,400–2,800 sf homes. Yours will vary.

VIII

A Local Counterargument

Why an online calculator
can't size your system.

We've been asked to honor an "AI quote" three times this month. Every one was wrong by a full ton. Here's why no algorithm — yet — can do this job from a screen.

No. 01

It only knows averages.

A 2-ton, 4-ton, or 5-ton recommendation built from zip code + square footage is fiction. Two houses on the same block need different equipment.

No. 02

It can't see your ducts.

Static pressure, register placement, return-air sizing, sealed-vs-leaky trunks. The biggest comfort variable is invisible from a browser tab.

No. 03

It misses the Ohio Valley.

Tools trained on national data don't know our humidity, our dew points, our shoulder-season storms. Sizing for Atlanta will fail in Haubstadt.

No. 04

It ignores warranty rules.

Manufacturer warranties require code-compliant installs, sized within ±15%, with matched line-set and matched coil. A web price tag skips every step.

"An algorithm priced the house. We measured it. The numbers were thousands of dollars apart."

I recommend them 100%!!! They are extremely fair, very respectful, and actually seem like they care about each person. Had to get a new furnace, condenser, and thermostat. Cost a lot of money but the service you get through Perfect Climate is the best I’ve experienced in this area! Jess, Tyler, Eric were part of the install team, and Garrett was the tech that went above and beyond to help my family and I. I wish I could give everyone of them a raise and promotion, these are the guys any and all companies should want to represent them! This company has a customer for life now!
