02 Can I add a mini-split to my main thermostat?

Not directly — mini-splits use their own controllers or wall-mounted thermostats. Some smart-home setups (ecobee, Nest with relays) can coordinate them, but the indoor heads make local decisions. Most homeowners actually prefer the room-by-room control once they have it.

03 Do mini-splits work in cold weather?

Modern hyper-heat mini-splits (Mitsubishi H2i, Daikin Maxima) maintain rated capacity down to -5°F and continue running to -13°F at reduced capacity.
