How much does a tankless water heater cost.

Tankless is a legitimately better answer for some homes and the wrong answer for others. Endless hot water is real. So is the larger gas line, the dedicated venting, and the higher install cost. Yes, but the payback is slower than the marketing suggests. Most homes save $80–$200 a year on gas. The honest reasons to go tankless are space savings, endless hot water, and 20-year unit life — not energy savings alone.

How long does a tankless last?

18–22 years with proper pretreatment and annual descaling. Without softened water in our area, you can lose 5+ years off that.

Can I install it in a small closet?

Yes — that is one of the biggest advantages. As long as venting clearances and gas line capacity work, tankless frees up the space a tank would have taken.

What about electric tankless?

For whole-home use in our climate with 50°F groundwater, electric tankless rarely makes sense — the amperage required is enormous. It can work for point-of-use applications. We will be honest about whether it fits.
